In 2000 Windsor Knolls became a Korean War Commemorative Partner.

We broke ground on the memorial garden during our Memorial Day program in 2001. In the fall of 2001, construction began on the garden with the building of the retaining wall, delivery of gravel for bricks and various plants were delivered. Hugh Schneider and Chip Chipley from the Korean War Veterans Post 142 designed the garden for us and helped build it.

At our Memorial Day program in 2002, the memorial garden was dedicated with the help of Harley Coon, National President of the Korean War Veterans Association. Also taking part in the dedication were our Veterans Committee, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 304- Frederick, VFW Post 10076-Mt. Airy, Korean War Veterans Chapter 142, Fort Detrick, Marine Corps Recruiting Office in Frederick and many other veterans and community members.

The monument was created and donated by Mr. Rick Shipp of the Washington Marble Company. Plants were discounted from C&C Landscaping in Damascus. Brickwork was donated by Morhle Masonry.
