How to play chess
Objective
of the game: to surround the opponents king so the king cannot move anywhere
without being captured. Certain pieces move in different ways the pieces that
are the same on both colors move the same. These are the way the certain pieces
move: rook (looks like a tower) moves as many spaces on the board as you want
as long as there are no pieces in the path but the rook can only move to spaces
in line with it vertically or horizontally. Knight: (looks like a horse) the
knight can only move vertically 3 spaces and horizontally 1space or
horizontally 3 spaces and 1 space vertically. Bishop: the bishop can move as
long as possible diagonally as long as the piece stays on the board and there
are no pieces in the way. King: the king can only move one space at a time in
any direction without a piece in the way the king is you’re most important if
your king is captured you loose. Queen: the queen can move as many spaces as
you want in any direction you want while staying on the board and as long as
there are no pieces in the way. Pawn: the pawn can move forward two spaces the
first time it is move the way it captures is diagonally 1 space. These are the
pieces and how they move in the game chess. Capture: to capture an opposing
piece there must be an opposing piece in your path before any of your pieces.
Pawns can only capture diagonally even though the move forward. Once a piece is
captured the only way to get it back is to get to the end of the opposing side
with a pawn and sacrifice the pawn for the piece back (this is useful if you
lost a queen, rook, bishop, or knight.) if your king is captured you can not
get it back with a pawn because once the king is captured the game ends. Webpage
