Barbara ParsonsWelcome Back to returning friends at Tuscarora! And a big Hello to all of the new Kindergarteners who will be joining us this year! We are about to start our fourth exciting year at Tuscarora Elementary and I can't wait to meet all of my new friends! Kindergarten is a wonderful place to continue the learning adventure that began with you, their parents. Together we can create a partnership that helps your child continue to grow into an enthusiastic, independent learner. I guarantee that you will be amazed at how much learning does happen this year!Even though I’ve taught for many years in Frederick County, with 13 years in Kindergarten, I still look forward to the beginning of school. I remember my own boys, now 17 and 22, going off on their first day of Kindergarten and how I was filled with excitement mixed with a lot of nervousness and a little sadness. I even made their Dad follow the school bus because I wanted to make sure they got into school safely! I was sure that no one could possibly keep them as safe as their parents! I was wrong; there were so many staff members there, safety was never in question. And you will find the same level of caring and concern here at Tuscarora. I'm sure you'll be feeling many of these same emotions as you wave good-bye to the bus or at the door. Try to be brave! Keep a stiff upper lip! I promise to take good care of them!Kelly O'BrienHi! My name is Kelly O'Brien. WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!!!!!!! Kindergarten is such an adventure. Everyday is something new. I have been teaching in Frederick County for the past 6 years. This is going to be my fourth year teaching kindergarten at Tuscarora. I love teaching at Tuscarora because it's in the community where I grew up:)I grew up in Frederick County and earned my degree from Frostburg State University. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach, shopping, hanging out with friends and rooting for the Baltimore Ravens!Melanie PrestonHi! My name is Melanie Preston and I am a kindergarten teacher at Tuscarora Elementary. This is my eleventh year teaching and my seventh year teaching in Frederick County. I enjoy teaching because of all the challenges and the reward of seeing the children learn to read and become independent thinkers.I graduated from Middletown High School and then I attended Towson State University to receive my teaching degree. I am currently taking classes at Hood College. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, traveling, and photography. My husband, Troy and I are constantly busy keeping up with our three children. We enjoy going to parks and being together as a family. We reside in the Tuscarora School District and look forward to our children attending a wonderful school.Michele BaiseyHi! My name is Michele Baisey and I am bursting with excitement about beginning another year in Kindergarten. I’ve taught 2 years of 2 nd grade and 1 year of Kindergarten at TuES. I am looking forward to an amazing 4 th year together with the staff, students, and parents in the community. Before moving to TuES I taught at Orchard Grove Elementary School for 6 years. I’ve taught both 1 st and 2 nd grade there. Each experience has been special to me because of the wonderful families and colleagues I’ve had the privilege of working with.I truly appreciate working in Frederick County because I’ve lived here my whole life! I went to schools in the Walkersville feeder pattern for elementary, middle, and high school. I went to Frederick Community College for 2 years before transferring to Hood College to earn my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. I returned to Hood College for my graduate program in Curriculum & Instruction and finished in May 2002. I hope to begin work on my doctoral program in the near future – I just love being in school! When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have a 13-year-old son named Troy and together we spend time with my mother, Pat (who everyone calls Bootsie). I have one brother who just moved back to Frederick, so we enjoy seeing him now that he is closer to home. When we are together we enjoy eating out, shopping, seeing friends. We enjoy spending a day at Adventure Park for family fun on the go-carts, bumper boats, roller coaster, and miniature golf courses. Our family loves baseball so we can be found on many nights at little league games or cheering for the Orioles on TV. Troy and I also go to the Orioles home games on Sundays because there’s nothing better than a day at Camden Yards (one of my other favorite place to be…the beach is another favorite of mine)!I am excited to be starting another school year and look forward to all that lies ahead. People say my loud voice and contagious laughter is easily recognizable. So…if you see (or hear) me around the building, please stop to say hello!Kim Doyle
