Welcome
Throughout the course of Language Arts 8 your attention as a creative and reflective learner will focus on analyzing reading pieces and finding voice in personal and formal writing. Perhaps most importantly, I would ask that you to commit yourself to making daily personal connections to the topics, texts, and ideas that are presented and discussed in class.
An education without your own independent thoughts and opinions is truly an undesirable experience. This is your education, your dress rehearsal for life. I have created high-interest activities for us to work on this year, but it is you that will make them great and ultimately meaningful.
During the course of the year we will be also focus on strengthening reading, writing, speaking, listening, language usage and literature skills through the study of the following units: The Value of Friendship, Self Reliance, Mystery, Perseverance, Overcoming Obstacles, and Tolerance.
I believe that this will be an exciting and productive year. That being said, for the next year, your interests should lie in doing well in this course. I will tell you this: your success is more than a possibility. In fact, it already exists in the future. You just have to get there.
In Language Arts, we dig deep. Bring your shovels and be ready to put your back into it.
