Purpose

  • Provide a structure in which students can express their ideas and opinions

  • Plan and direct student activities

  • Enforce school rules and procedures

  • Help promote and improve school spirit and morale among students and teachers

  • Encourage students to participate in government in their adult life

  • Teach students citizenship skills

  • Participate in service learning activities

  
Members

  • 4 officers who are elected in the Spring of the previous year; President is an 8th grader, VP is a 7th grader, Secretary and Treasurer can be any grade

  • Each Homebase is given the opportunity to elect 2 officers, a Representative and an Alternate; the Representative serves during 1st and 3rd terms and the Alternate served during 2nd and 4th terms

  • Should have a C average, have regular school attendance, display positive behavior in school, attend the meetings, report the information discussed in the meetings back to the Homebase

  
Events

  • Red Ribbon Week – promotes being drug and alcohol free; includes Spirit Week and ends with a dance

  • Winter Candy Grams – students purchase candy and send it to a friend

  • Valentine Candy Grams – students purchase candy or flower to send to a friend

  • Valentine’s Dance

  • Carnival – in the spring; have games for students to play, rides, crafts, and prizes;  we will need many parents to help with this, look for information to be sent home soon in Thursday Folders.
