Guidance services include:

  • Academic Guidance and Counseling assists students and their parents to understand curricular options, assist with organization, and assist with studying for tests when needed.

  • Career Guidance and Counseling assists students to understand post-secondary opportunities.

  • Personal/Social Guidance and Counseling assists students to understand themselves, the rights and needs of others, conflict resolutions and encourage individual goal setting.

These services are delivered through:

  • Classroom Guidance is a series of classroom lessons conducted by counselors at various grade levels to promote academic, personal/social and career development of all students.

  • Small Group Counseling allows students to share mutual concerns with their peers. Emphasis is upon problem solving and the development of positive attitudes and effective personal skills.

  • Individual Counseling helps students learn more efficiently and effectively, with an emphasis on identifying concerns early before they become overwhelming.

The counseling department encourages and appreciates parental involvement and input, and will coordinate parent conferences with classroom teachers.   A counselor will frequently request appointments with students to discuss academic or social concerns.   Students wishing to talk with a counselor should stop by the guidance office before school or during lunch to make an appointment.   They may also ask their teachers for a copy of the Guidance Appointment Request Form.  The student should turn in the completed form to the guidance secretary.  The counselor will then meet with your child.  Information you or your child tells the counselor (and/or other school personnel) remains confidential with the counselor (and/or other school personnel) unless there may be possible harm to your child or others. We look forward to working with you this year. If you have questions or concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to call us. The Guidance Office hours are 7:30 am- 2:30 pm. We hope this will be a successful academic year for your child.
