My name is Jennifer Hortie. I am a full time special education teacher. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Hood College in 2003 and I am certified to teach grades 1-8. 

I have worked at Thurmont Elementary School since the fall of 2003. Not only have I specifically learned a lot about the Thurmont Community since being here, I have also brought with me a deep knowledge of Frederick County in general.

I am a Frederick County native who completed all schooling within the county. This includes elementary through graduate school. I will earn my masters degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Instructional Technology.

I became a wife on June 24, 2006 to John Hortie, my high school sweetheart. Together we raise Ramsey, a Jack Russell born in 2004. She is a powerhouse full of energy, but also very loving.
