Thanks for stopping by our new website. We are very excited to offer news, updates, pictures etc. to the community via our website.

My name is Kate Krietz and I have been the principal here at TES for the past two years.  I have worked at various other FCPS schools (Emmitsburg Elementary, Valley Elementary, Carroll Manor Elementary, Spring Ridge Elementary and Thurmont Primary) for the past 15 years. I have been a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal and now principal. I love working with children and enjoy working with all of the families in the Thurmont Community.

I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Montana. I went to college at Saint Mary's College in Kansas and also attended Western Maryland (now McDaniel College). I am certified to teach Pre-K through 8th grade, I have a Master's Degree in School Guidance Counseling and I have Administrator I and II certificates.

I live in Smithsburg Maryland with my husband, two children and our dog, "Buddy". I teach Sunday School (kindergarten) and love spending time with my class each week. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping and talking on the phone with friends.

As a principal I have an open door policy and welcome parents to visit with me as often as possible. If you have questions about our school or school community, please feel free to give me a call.
