The Frederick County Outdoor School provides a 2 day field study of the different rivers and streams of Frederick County as a follow-up to the water unit taught in the sixth grade home school science class. Besides collecting water data the students also observe the great variety of plants and animals that are found in our wetlands and surrounding areas. They also discover the importance of wetlands to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. One of the purposes of this web page is to help the students prepare for this outdoor field experience by reviewing the testing procedures above. This will be directed by the home school teachers. Also the data collected will be posted under the title Stream Data. Students will then be able to access all of the data over the past 12 years to help them analyze the conditions of our local waterways.
