Frederick County, Maryland is located approximately one hour west of Baltimore, MD and one hour northwest of Washington D.C. The eastern side of the county displays the rolling hills of the Maryland Piedmont, while the eastern border of the Appalachian Mountains is found in the west. Between the hills and the mountains lies the Frederick Valley where the Scenic Monocacy River flows.
