It is April 13, 1865. You have just received the news of Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. The war is finally over. It has been four long years of brother against brother, and friend against friend. You have an overwhelming feeling of relief, happiness, sadness, and confusion. Suddenly your editor bursts into your office with an assignment for you.

are to be a Union or a Confederate newspaper.
Ø Use your
graphic organizer to research the Internet for information that will answer the
who, what, where, when and why of each turning point.
Ø Write a very brief summary for each turning point.
Ø Design your cover.

turning point in your cover.
