- Identify letters and corresponding sounds
- Read sight words
- Identify long and short vowel sounds
- Write a simple sentence with correct punctuation and capitalization
- Write upper and lower manuscript letters legibly
- Count to one hundred
- Identify and use numbers
- Add and subtract simple equations
- Identify coins and values
Children should leave second grade able to do the following tasks.
- Identify and form cursive letters
- Write a paragraph using complete sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation at the beginning and ending of sentences
- Identify vowel diagraphs and dipthongs
- Demonstrate strong number sense
- Addition and subtraction facts through 18
- Tell time by five minute intervals
- Count change to a dollar
- Measure to the nearest 1/2 inch
- Place letters in proper place on paper
- Be responsible for schoolwork and homework assignments
