Betsy Little, Principal of Oakdale Elementary School, has been in education for over 20 years working with students from grade one through grade eight. She began her career teaching first graders in her hometown in Illinois. From there she moved to Alaska and taught students in grades one through three. Several years later, she settled in Frederick County in 1987 and has remained here except for a three year administrative adventure in Washington County,Md.

Ms. Little completed her undergraduate degree in elementary education at Iowa State University and earned her Masters degree in educational leadership at Hood College. She has continued to pursue academic knowledge and has taken numerous courses in addition to her degree programs.

Ms. Little appreciates the quality teaching that occurs daily at Oakdale Elementary School and encourages the continued support of the community. She is constantly amazed by the dedicated staff, students and family members that truly model Oakdale's motto of CHARACTER + COMMUNITY+ COMMITMENT = SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS.

Kimberly Haugh, the assistant principal, has been in education for 12 years. During that time she has taught first, second, third and fifth grades. In addition to teaching in the classroom setting she has taught a variety of reading programs specifically designed to meet the needs of struggling readers. All of her teaching experience has been with Frederick County Public Schools which has proved beneficial in meeting the need of Frederick County’s changing community.

Ms Haugh completed her undergraduate degree in education for grades one through eight at Mc Daniel College and earned her Masters degree in educational leadership at Hood College.

Ms Haugh feels privileged to work at Oakdale Elementary where the staff and students work together to build a community of learners who are tomorrows’ problem solvers.
