Fifth Grade News
Our Geology field trip is quickly approaching. Due to the weather this week we did not have a chance to discuss field trip rules and expectations with the students.
Please make sure your child has:
warm clothes-they will spend a lot of time outside
gloves, hats, scarves, and boots are encouraged
a lunch unless they expressed the desire to get a bagged lunch from the cafeteria to their teacher
Please make sure your child does NOT have:
any electronics for the bus ride-the whole trip is educational
money-there are no places for souvenirs
cameras-they will be too busy to take pictures and all teachers carry one with them
glass bottles in their lunches-safety reasons
Here is an overview of the trip:
Day 1: Barrick's Quarry, Rocky Ridge, Catoctin Mountain Park, and High Rock
Most of this day is spent on the bus with stops at the mentioned places. Rocky Ridge and High Rock will be outside. At the quarry we will remain on the bus and at Catoctin Mountain Park we will be in the Visitor's center
Day 2: Doubs Substation, Point of Rocks, and Sugarloaf Mountain
We are only on the bus to travel, most of the day is spent walking/hiking.
