Our Earth Day celebration was a success. We thank all who participated in our afternoon events. We hope that the seeds and seedlings that were sent home help your child/ren continue to spread their care for the environment into your neighborhood community.

Our students also enjoyed seeing their Reading Incentive Program come to closure with the throwing of pies at Mr. Parsons and Mrs. Poling. Click on the image below to see video footage of the event!

School Focus for 2007 ~ 2008

We thank you for all who submitted feedback in May. It is helpful to have parent perspectives as we move forward with our instructional plans for the year ahead. In addition to continuing to focus on providing a high quality educational program for ALL children, we will specifically continue our work with:

6+1 Traits of Writing - including weekly televised celebrations for our Wonderful Writers, writing envelopes to celebrate with parents, and continued teamwork in improving writing instruction. For more information, visit: http://www.culhamwriting.com/

Instructional Uses of Technology - This year every Kemptown classroom has a full presentation station with a laptop, projector, document camera, and cart. We have begun to support integration of effective technology integration into instruction through a Study Group model. Teachers are participating in 3 session rotations throughout the year learning how to use a new technology, creating a lesson that uses it, implementing it with students, and then sharing with the rest of the staff. We are very excited about our continued work in this area!
Two-Way Home School Communication - We continue to look for ways to improve our two-way communication. We continue to work on building useful teacher/team webpages to give you the information that you need. Remember bulletins are available via Find Out First and are archived on our web site in the Parent section.
