Hillcrest Elementary has a tradition of being an eager and enthusiastic place in the community. Built in 1988, the charms of this facility can only be overshadowed by the warm and caring attitudes expressed by the staff, parents and students. One needs only to step inside our doors to feel the energy created by this community.

The Hillcrest staff truly believes in dedicating full attention to the nurturing of its students. We work hard to make sure all students are provided with a rigorous instructional program as much emphasis is placed on the county’s essential curriculum and the state voluntary curriculum. The Administrative Cabinet and SITE Council work hard to monitor student progress and help teachers make adjustments to instruction. Currently, our class sizes are exceptional, at or near 20 students per classroom. Our accomplishments can be attributed to the frequent professional development sessions held and the partnerships established between our staff, parents and our local Board of Education.

We are committed to increasing parent involvement. Volunteers work in our school each day and parents participate in family events scheduled throughout the year. Parent training sessions specific to each grade level are also offered throughout the year. During or near conferences we hold a book fair, book exchange and a clothing exchange. Trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship are traits and expectations we hold high at Hillcrest. Our students learn these through instruction and role models provided by parents, staff and our community members. Having this level of support helps our students understand that Hillcrest Expects Success from each of them.
