PTA Meeting—June 9
The 2009- 2010 Executive Committee of the PTA invites you to our General Membership meeting on, Tuesday, June 9th, 2009 at 6:30pm in the Media Center. All members are encouraged to attend. Please come and meet our new officers:

All current committee chairs will receive a year end report to help everyone plan better.  All returning and interested chair persons will receive some helpful planning materials for next school year.  We look forward to seeing you there. 

Spirit Wear Orders Are In!
You should have received your spirit wear order. It was distributed to your child on Tuesday. Some orders are being held due to non-payment or issues. If you didn't receive it, please contact Rachel at 301 865-0279 or RSED100@aol.com.

BOX TOPS AND SOUP LABELS
Thank you, Deer Crossing families!  The last box tops and soup labels have been clipped and counted!  The final totals are in!  This school year we received 43,660 box tops.  At 10 cents a piece, that means Deer Crossing has earned $4,366.  This is almost $800 more than we earned last year.  Fantastic!  We also collected 19,758 soup label points this year.  This is nearly 2,000 more than we collected last year.  We will bank these points until next year when teachers can redeem them for school and classroom supplies.  Thank you, families, for your collection efforts.  We will aim to set a new record next year!

Below is the list of final box top totals for the year.  A ** next to the teacher’s name means that the classroom earned the ice cream reward for their collection  total accumulating over 1,500.  On Friday, June 5th,   Jimmie Cone of Mt. Airy will deliver 675 cups of ice cream to our school.  Thanks for the great deal Mr. Leiter at Jimmie Cone!  Additionally, students in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place classrooms will receive a gift certificate for a free cone at Jimmie Cone.  Our biggest collectors in the school were:

A big thank you to the parents who counted, bagged, and tallied over 63,000 box tops and soup labels:  Chandra Cramer, Rebecca Dean, Erica Emeigh, Lynn Gula, Laura Hughes, Lisa Long, Deb Sagel, and Les Utz.  Without them, I would still be counting!  If you are interested in helping count box tops and soup labels next year (It usually takes 2-3 hours per month on your own time-- we have no meetings!) please contact Jenny Burke 301-865-1855--we could use the help!
