Parent/Teacher Conferences 
Parent-Teacher Spring Conferences will only be scheduled for students upon teacher or parent request for grades Pre-K through 5.  If your child’s teacher would like to have a conference with you, they will send a conference request form home with your child. If you do not receive a request from your child’s teacher and would like to have a conference, please contact the teacher in writing or by telephone. Pre-Kindergarten students will not attend school on conference days. 
Monday, March 2, students in grades K through 5 will attend school in the afternoon only.  Buses will run 4 hours later than usual.  Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and students will arrive between 12:30 p.m. and 12:55 p.m.  Classes begin at 1:00 p.m.  LUNCH WILL NOT BE SERVED.

Tuesday, March 3, students in grades K through 5 will attend school in the morning and will be dismissed 3 ½ hours early at 12:00 noon.    Students attend school from 8:55 to 12:00.  Lunch will be served.

Two Hour Early Dismissal
Tomorrow, Friday, February 20, students will be dismissed two hours early at 1:30 for a teacher work session.  Morning pre-kindergarteners will attend school from 9:00 to 10:30 and afternoon pre-kindergarteners will attend school from 12:00 to 1:30.  Buses will pick up afternoon special education pre-kindergarten students one hour earlier than usual.  If you have questions regarding the schedule please call the school office

  
Jump Rope for Heart
Students participating in Jump Rope for Heart should arrive by 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2.  Students will eat a bag lunch from home at 11:30.  The event will be completed by 12:30.  Collection envelopes are due the day of the jump.

 

Kindergarten Registration 2009-2010
Kindergarten Registration will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, March 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  If you or someone you know has a child with a September 1, 2004 (or prior) birth date, they are eligible for kindergarten.  Kindergarten registration papers are available for pick up in the school office. The following forms are necessary for registration:  a copy of the child’s birth certificate, social security number of the child, proof of residency (such as a gas, electric, water and sewer bill, property tax bill or signed lease/rental agreement) and current immunization record.  If you have any questions, please call the school office.


Pre-Kindergarten Registration 2009-2010
Deer Crossing Elementary School offers an inclusive Pre-Kindergarten that meets five days a week, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. for the morning session and 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. for the afternoon session.  The program currently serves our special needs preschool students, ages 3-4 and students without special needs who are 4 years old.  There are twelve slots available for students not receiving special education services.  These students will be selected through a lottery for participation.  The criteria for a non special education student to participate in this program include:

  • Age four by September, 1, 2009
  • No identified special needs services (Child Find, speech, OT/PT)
  • Transportation must be provided mid-day
  • Child cannot currently be enrolled in another FCPS Pre-K program

If you are interested in having your child participate in this program, please enroll your child during Kindergarten registration hours on March 2 and 3 (see above).   The same forms are needed for Pre-Kindergarten registration as for Kindergarten registration.
