All students at Brunswick Elementary visit the media center once each week for a library skills lesson and a book exchange. The 40-minute period includes instruction in beginning media skills, technology skills, the research process and literature appreciation. Our library collection of over 13,000 items includes a wide variety of picture books, chapter books, non-fiction and magazines for students of all ages and abilities. We have four OPAC computers in the library and 20 instructional computers in the adjacent mini-lab. All students learn about the Frederick County Digital Networks Acceptable Use Regulation and Internet safety before viewing or using the Web, and are closely supervised during class activities involving computer use.

If you have any questions about our media center, feel free to contact me at school by phone or e-mail. My direct number is 240-236-2919 (which goes directly to voicemail during the instructional day) and my e-mail address is cynthia.doggett@fcps.org. I encourage all families to spend time each day reading together…it’s an easy way to make a big difference in your child’s education! Happy Reading!
