ORGANIZE NOW FOR SUCCESS LATER

Organization is one of the most important skills for students to have, especially as they enter a new grade. When students start off organized, they're more likely to stay that way throughout the year. Here are some things kids should organize:

^ A study routine. Help your child decide when and where she will study. She/He should study every day, preferably at the same time. The study spot should be quiet, neat and comfortable.
^ Assignments. Have your child use an assignment notebook and calendar to keep track of due dates. Show her how to make daily "to do" lists. Help him/her choose a filing system to organize paper.

^ Belongings. Make sure your child has specific places to put things. For example, she might leave her bookbag by the door each night or give her favorite jeans a special place in the closet.
^Other activities. Encourage your shild to write commitments, such as soccer practices and social events, on a calendar. Use job charts to organize family chores
