Parent Teacher Organization – PTO
As President of our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) I would like to welcome you to the new 2008-2009 school year! Our organization is non-profit, and designed to keep the monies earned at our school in order to fulfill our mission of promoting the welfare of our children. The PTO’s mission is promoted through educational programs directed toward parents, teachers, and the general public and is carried out through conferences, committees, projects, and programs.
We encourage involvement of parents and community members. You can make a difference! Throughout the year, there will be numerous opportunities for you to be involved with the PTO, either through projects and committees or in a school volunteer capacity. Your involvement improves parent-child and teacher relationship. Your commitment and dedication provides for a better understanding of the educational process. As a volunteer you send a positive, public message that you care about what happens in our school and with our children.
Research shows that parent involvement enhances a child’s self-esteem AND their academic achievement. When you praise their efforts on any level, appreciate the individual worth of each child and use phrases to positively motivate and inspire a child. There is no greater reward than working with our children. I encourage you to become an active volunteer and help our children to become the leaders of tomorrow.
You can make a difference! Be apart of the most precious gift we have “Our Children.” They come First!
You may always check out the latest PTO information on the Brunswick Elementary School website at http://www.fcps.org./schools/bes. Our meeting schedule and a list of our PTO Board members will be posted on the site.
Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions or concerns. All parents are encouraged to come to meetings.
Raising our children is a T.E.A.M. effort… Together Everyone Achieves More
Sincerely,
April Socher
