Pre-Kindergarten
May Pre-K Calendar

May 2008

Dear Parents,

We can hardly believe that May is here already! The year is flying by too quickly.

We will soon be going on our field trips to the Frederick Keys Stadium and to Baker Park. It is great we have so many parents and grandparents going with us. Thanks to all ahead of time. A very Special Thank-You to Brunswick McDonald’s for donating 10,000 cups and napkins to the Pre-K classes this year. Our field trips to the Brunswick Railroad Museum were fun and informative. The weather mostly cooperated. Thank you, chaperones, for walking the big hills with us. Another thank you to Jimmy Hill for bringing in his 18 wheeler.

Our Pre-K Sock Hops were fun!!! Many children dressed in the 50’s style. We danced to the early rock-and-roll tunes and had root-beer floats for snack. What a great time.

Our Pre-K Spring Programs are scheduled for Friday, May 23rd. The A.M. program will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., and the P.M. program is scheduled from 2:00-3:00 p.m. The children will be singing some favorite songs to our guests. We hope that you will be able to be here with us on this very special day. These programs will be held outside. We hope you, your family, and your friends will join us. Younger brothers and sisters are also invited.

We have started our new unit, “CHANGES.” If you haven’t yet, please send in a baby picture of your child for our bulletin board. We will take very good care of your pictures and will return them to you at the end of the year.

Our big end of the year event will be “BEACH DAY,” which is scheduled for Friday, May 30th. On that day, we will be moving our “centers” outside. There will be pools, and a cabana where we can relax and read books. Please have your child wear a bathing suit under his/her shorts. After we dry off, the children will put their shorts back on over their bathing suits. We WILL NOT be taking suits off and putting on underwear. Please know that you may pick up your child early if you are concerned about him/her riding home on the school bus in a damp suit. Also, we will need several parent volunteers to help supervise our centers. Please send in a note if you can help.

If it’s raining on Friday, May 30th, Beach Day will be re-scheduled for Thursday, June 5th. Please remember to put sunscreen on your child and send a towel along also.

We have attached to this newsletter the May Homework Calendar. We are also sending home the last Scholastic book order of the year. If you would like to order, please return the form by Thursday, May 15th.

Just a reminder . . . there is no school on Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day. There is a two-hour early dismissal on Friday, June 13th. The A.M. session will be 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. and the P.M. session will be 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. This is, also, the last day of school for all students.

Until June . . . . .
