January 9, 2008 - Executive Functioning Difficulties of ADHD “Executive Functioning” refers to a cluster of cognitively controlled abilities that allow us to self regulate our behaviors and emotions. Executive Functioning also includes skills such as the capacity to plan ahead, choose and implement strategies, organize one’s thinking and actions, and use memory. This presentation will explore how Executive Functioning affects students with ADHD within the home and school environments, as well as intervention strategies. Presenters will be Julie Kaufhold,M.S., FCPS School Psychologist, and Patricia Ruiz, M.S.W.,ABD,LCSW-C, Tuscarora High School Pyramid Therapist.

February 13, 2008 - Accommodations and Modifications Learn the difference between accommodations and modifications and see what accommodationslook like on the new state IEP. Modifications will be briefly defined and explained, and seetools teachers may use to determine necessary accommodations. Presented by Diane Mazur, CCPS Special Education Teacher and Cindy Senseney, CCPS Parent Liason.

March 12, 2008 - Summer Activities/Camp Fair Summer will be here before you know it and some camps actually are filled up by April, so now is the time to start making summer plans for your child with special needs. Representatives from local and regional programs will be present to talk to parents about their programs and handoutswill be available from a variety of camps and programs that cannot be there in person. Information on funding sources will also be included.

Registration is appreciated but not required for all workshops.

Parent Power - Caring for Children with Special Needs

Parent Power is a comprehensive parent education and support program designed forfamilies who have a child with special needs which impact the family as a whole.
