Welcome to Thurmont Elementary! I am the Learning/Language Support Teacher at TES, however, I also see students who are in Targeted Reading Intervention groups. I have been teaching for eleven years, five with the L/LS Program. My husband, Jason, is a teacher as well, at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, MD.
We live in Fairfield, PA with our three children; Kevin, 11, Noah, 9 and Allison, 7. The Hoffman household is going through the “back to school” transition as well. this year Kevin is in 6th grade in middle school, Noah is in 4th and Allison is in 2nd. Our boys are involved in soccer, basketball and Scouts. Allison loves to dance in her extra time.
The name of the game is REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW.
Schedule I students....The first three weeks will be intensive
phonemic awareness practice and learning lower case cursive letters. Homework
will be cursive letter practice
Schedules IIB and IIC...We will review last year's skills for about
two weeks. Homework will be word lists based on previous skills. During the
fourth week of school we will start learning new sounds and our spelling units
will reflect those new skills.
