My name is Ms. Myers and I am excited to be the new counselor at TES! This is my 17th year as a School Counselor and my 23rd year with FCPS. I was previously at Ballenger Creek Elementary, as the School Counselor, for 16 years. I also taught first grade at Liberty Elementary and first grade/transitional first grade at North Frederick Elementary. I am excited to be ‘back home’ in Thurmont, as I went to TES, TMS, and graduated from CHS. Everyone has been very welcoming to me. I look forward to meeting each and every one of the students and families this year, and helping everyone have an awesome school year!
The primary focus of our school-counseling program is to promote and enhance learning. I work with all students by doing classroom lessons on various topics at each grade level. These lessons are derived from the grade level indicators in the FCPS guidance curriculum. I facilitate small groups during lunch/recess time, as well as some class time. I also work with students individually and with other students mediating friendship problems they may have with one another.
